Leica L1 And L2 Watches

The famous camera maker expands into the watch space.

Best known for their ultra high quality and advanced cameras, the German brand Leica has decided to enter into the world of watchmaking. Exploring the idea of creating a watch since around 2012, the camera maker has worked with Achim Heine, a German product designer that designed many of brand’s cameras and other devices.

Named L1 and L2, the watches are both medium-to-large size having a diameter of 41mm and are 14mm thick. The time-and-date L1 and the GMT-equipped L2, feature brushed stainless steel cases, and a movement made by Lehmann Präzision, a well-known for making high-precision machinery used in the watchmaking industry.

Leica has not reveiled the price for their watches, but the L1 will retail for under €10,000 and will be available starting fall 2018 in selected Leica Stores.

The L2 will also be released in a special version featuring an 18k rose gold case and red dial.
